SAILING BIO

Hello. My name is Adam Correa and I am currently preparing myself and my boat for the 2010 Singlehanded Transpac to Hawaii. Three years ago this Summer 09′ I discovered Sailing. Having had the Ocean be a part of my life for quite some time…chasing swells up and down the California & Mexico coasts in search of surf…I hadn’t quite experienced the Ocean the way one does OFFSHORE and ALONE. Two years ago I became a member of the Singlehanded Sailing Society here in the San Francisco Bay Area and started to consistently race. The Singlehanded Sailing Society is a unique group of world class sailors that provides an amazing network of support, competition, and a contagious Corinthian “Do it yourself” Ethos. A year and a half ago I sailed out under the Golden Gate Bridge with the SSS Singlehanded Transpac fleet of 2008 to send off my friends who were headed for Hawaii. It was inspiring to follow the race from start to finish and I decided that 2010 would be my year to give it a shot. So here we are: currently 9 months away from the 2010 SHTP start and things are really starting to come together. I have my boat, I have my surfboards, I have my to-do prep list, and I have a date to sail to Hawaii Solo. Thanks for checking out my Blog and I will do my best to keep things updated along the way. Go sailing!

  1. Hi Adam,
greetings from an IF Boat sailor in Switzerland, Lake Thun. I’ve been reading your updates over the last two months. Happy to hear that you’re getting there. Good luck, Thomas

  2. Hi I own a 1969 IF hull # 396. Seeing your boat and the confidence you have in her encourages me to overall my IF. Well done – what a great looking boat! Good luck.
